Hi. My name is Greg Anderson. I’m the owner of A Banyan Residence, assisted living resort in Venice, Florida.

The difference between a nursing home and an assisted living facility is that a nursing home provides skilled nursing whereas an assisted living facility provides assistance with activities of daily living.

Now it isn’t that you can’t get skilled nursing in an assisted living facility. You can and that would be done through home health agencies coming in and providing some sort of skilled nursing services where at a nursing home, they have 24-hour nurses because there are certain nursing skills that the patient requires.

Assisted living, the residents are residents and not patients and that they live whereby they’re getting supervision and they’re getting services for activities of daily living and again if you need skilled nursing, that can be arranged through home health agencies.
